|Poke'mon are property of Nintendo. I hope my art helps to bring back good memories! Car rides to school playing poke'mon in the car, trading with friends, collecting the cards -whatever your sin was. Even better if this helps you find a new appreciation for poke'mon or inspires you to do some work of your own.|
Small watercolor of a Golden eyed Suicune in the forest. And of course, no painting of the forest would be complete without a few rabbit Nidoran grazing.
And Do As Infinity's "Fukai Mori" plays in my head when I see this. Reminiscent of my Inuyasha obsessed days.
Reminds me of Bambi!
My sister pointed out… “Hey, Suicune’s butt has a bowl cut”…FML
Standard: Feral Arcanine were caught and domesticated by people many centuries ago. Wild Arcanine still roam vast expanses but are very difficult to encounter as their territories are quite large. The ancestors of the various present-day Arcanine breeds have dense coats and, most notably, larger paws and longer muzzles with a less sloping skull (apparent in their profile). The fur is a medium orange and cream with stark black markings. Although they can be captured and trained to some extent, they are more disposed to an independent and aloof nature.
Herding: Arcanine bred to herd Miltank and Tauros are shorter in stature compared to the standard. Their fur is an oaky hue and the traditional stripes have become thicker, making this breed appear to have Calico type markings. The traditionally cream fur is replaced by stark white fur that contrasts nicely for a bold appearance. The tails are docked at birth by the owners -this was done many centuries ago to distinguish the herding Arcanine from their wild ancestors that were threats to livestock. From a distance it was easy for people to immediately see if the Arcanine on their fields were domesticated or wild.
Toy-Breed: These small Arcanine were bred for companionship and competitive fashion shows. Their small size is off-set by their generally jealous and aggressive nature. They bond very closely with their owners/ trainers. The ears should be short and perked, the tips of the pointed ears should just slightly extend beyond the top of the skull. The tail should be tightly curled up and over the back, nearly touching the long fur on the nape of its neck. The fur color is very reminiscent of the wild Arcanine. They specialize in learning egg moves such as "Echoed Voice" and "Uproar" that are uncommon in other Arcanine. These small Pokémon excel in the Beauty and Cute themed competitions.
Guard: Bred to be larger in stature than all other breeds, these Arcanine have loose skin around their jowls and it is common practice to crop the ears to stand upright for a regal profile. The shoulders are quite high, the forelegs are long and have a well-defined bone structure visible especially in the toes. The chest is deep and the waist tapers. The fur is short and a deep amber; the muzzle on this breed is dark. The markings are relatively short and wide except for the shoulder marking which should be narrow and extend nearly to the wide chest. Although its size makes it daunting, this breed is rather friendly. These Arcanine usually pass on to their Growlithe offspring the two key egg moves "Detect" and "Foresight" -two very desirable moves for Guard Pokémon.
Hunting (Cold Climate): These Arcanine have deep colored almond eyes and a thick, short double layered coat that gives the illusion of a plush quality. The color is best described as a tangerine -a slightly more mellow color than the wild breed. Its ears are short and neat on its triangular shaped head. The paws should be large and rounded. These Arcanine like to utilize these large paws by standing on their hind legs and “boxing” with their opponents to keep them at bay. The tail should be a pinkish cream and tightly curled. The black stripes should be fat and defined, appearing soft and bold.
Hunting (Desert): Smaller in size with a very compact body, these Arcanine have large ears to help them regulate their body temperature in the desert where ancient nomadic people bred them to hunt small game. Their fur is short and golden, excellent camouflage against the dusty sand dunes while the stripes have become narrow, breaking up their body shape and making it difficult for prey to identify its outline. The tail should be tightly coiled against the back.
Hunting (Arid): Rumored to have originated as a hunting breed in Johto, this Arcanine was used to hunt legendary Pokémon. Its fierce temperament and piercing eyes allow it to use moves such as Mean Look and Glare, paralyzing legendary Pokémon that are prone to fleeing. The deep chest and narrow paws gave it the stamina and agility to compete with ancient creatures like Entei. The coat is a deep burnt cinnamon with very thin and severe markings. Its body is sleek and streamlined, with a white ridge of fur along its spine that runs in the opposite direction of the rest of its fur. The tail has a stiff quality to aid in uncompromised balance when reaching high speeds.
Retriever: Docile and good natured, these Arcanine have deep foreheads and soft, relaxed ears. Their eyes are doleful and the fur is silky and long. The torso is longer than expected when compared to the length of the limbs. The paws are soft with heavy feathering along the back. Its fur is a pleasant butter color which almost blends seamlessly with the lighter markings. Bred to assist people with retrieving their Pokéballs once a Pokémon was captured, these are a relatively newer breed.

Greninja are aquatic Pokémon that can be found primarily in fresh water. Unlike most aquatic creatures, Greninja develop gills. Froakie and Frogadier have a collection of bubbles that are used as both a defense mechanism and a source of oxygen when they fully submerge. Greninja have small black external gills on either side of their head, enabling them to remain underwater indefinitely.
Their extremely porous body stores copious amounts of water in which they expel rapidly from their skin. The water is pushed out with such excessive force that they can cause deep lacerations and severe wounds. Greninja has evolved so that its tongue extends out of its body and is usually wrapped around its neck. When it attacks prey, the hyoid bone in the throat comes into play, Greninja’s throat muscles contract and its tongue is propelled with deadly accuracy.
Some Greninja have the ability “Battle Bond” in which after striking down an opponent they transform. These alpha Greninja gain this ability only when closely linked to their human trainer. Greninja with this ability are unable to breed, making them extremely rare.
